Cheer Wins IASP State Championship

Chesterton Large Coed Cheer traveled to New Castle High School to compete in the Indiana Association of School Principals Indiana Cheer Championship today. Top teams from across the state competed in both traditional and game day competition divisions based on school classifications. Chesterton competed in the A/B Time-Out Only Division. 13 teams entered the division and finals brought the field down to 7 of the best teams in the state. Third place was awarded to Warsaw High School. Runner up was awarded to Plainfield High School. Taking home their first IASP State Title is your Chesterton Coed Varsity Cheer Team! Our IASP State Champion team consists of: Chesterton Coed Cheer competed with both our JV and Varsity program. The team consisted of Adriana Gorbea, Alana Hernandez, Andie Kollar, Ashlyn Dolph, Bobby Spencer, Breanne Pappas, Brendan Brady, Canon Surane, Carly Decker, Cole Gilbert, Emma Gilbert, Ella Marganti, Ethan Wood, Gaby Alvarado, Gionna Pinkston, Grace Miller, Hadynn Martinez, Julia Depew, Kathryn Jasch, Kendall Tarnow, Kyliann Hill, Levi Swart, Maddie Lyons, Mady Novak, Niko Monako, Olivia Papp, and Sophia Ontiveros Coaches: Tara Graf, Calla Dolph, Cordie Armstrong, Emma Sieman, and Grant Gilbertson. Chesterton is also bringing home 4th place at IASP State in the Stunt Group Division. Fourth in State for the Stunt Group Division is Gionna Pinkston, Mady Novak, Niko Monaco, and Olivia Papp. As a program they had zero deductions and look forward to competing in the UCA Regional Qualifier for Nationals at the end of November. We are very proud of these dedicated and talented athletes and would like to thank all of the past athletes who have helped make us who we are, our supportive parents and family members who give their time and energy to the program, and the teams we cheer for who have been so supportive of us. We would also like to thank the Duneland schools and Community for the continued support, we would not be who we are without all of you!
