Butler University’s Sellick Bowl. Chatard jumped out to a 13-0 lead before the Irish answered with 20 unanswered points but still needed Van Krisiloff’s 46-yard field goal with nine seconds remaining to earn the victory. The Trojans began with a 13-play, 80-yard drive that lasted more than six minutes and concluded with Danny Adams’ 3-yard touchdown run. Early in the second quarter, Chatard’s Harrison Odom threw a 45-yard scoring pass to Brooks Haines. Krisiloff kicked a 34-yard field goal with three minutes remaining in the period, then added a 20-yarder on the final play of the half to narrow the Irish deficit to 13-6. Chatard started the second half with another drive of more than six minutes, moving the ball from its own 20-yard line to the Cathedral one where the Trojans had it first and goal. However, the Fighting Irish defense forced rushing losses on first and second downs followed by two incomplete passes. The Irish offense then marched 96 yards with Jimmy Pappas tying the score on a 25-yard touchdown run. Cathedral took the lead with 9:31 left in the game on Xavier Dangerfield’s 5-yard TD run. After recovering an Irish fumble, Chatard drove 59 yards and evened the score, 20-20, on Adams’ 26-yard touchdown run with less than four minutes to play. A failed Trojans’ punt attempt with one minute left gave Cathedral the ball at the Chatard 35, leading to Krisiloff’s game winning field goal. Pappas rushed for 108 yards on 19 attempts, while Dangerfield added 52 rushing yards on 12 carries. Cam Koers completed 12 of 20 passes to seven different Cathedral receivers for 96 yards passing. The Fighting Irish now lead the series between the two schools 31-20. Cathedral evens its record at 2-2, while Chatard falls to 3-1. Next Friday, the Fighting Irish travel to Southport. The Irish last played the Cardinals in 1955. Southport is winless this season in four outings.
