Cathedral scored 36 first-quarter points against Crispus Attucks Friday night and cruised to a 43-6 victory over the Tigers in a game played in Broad Ripple. The Fighting Irish offense was very efficient in the first half scoring six touchdowns, while running only 17 plays and possessing the ball for just three minutes and twenty-eight seconds. Cam Berry returned the opening kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown and Tell’i McCullough ran for the two-point conversion. On the next Irish possession, Luke Finn tossed a swing pass to Xavier Dangerfield who ran 10 yards for a score. McCullough added a 10-yard TD run, Ollie Lewis took Finn’s push pass 13 yards to the end zone, and Jeremiah Harris ran 34 yards for a touchdown to make the margin 36-0 at the end of the first quarter. Emmett Knowles completed a 25-yard TD pass to TJ Dockery in the second period to conclude Cathedral’s scoring. The 43-point halftime margin triggered a running clock for the second half under the Indiana High School Athletic Association’s Mercy Rule. Joe Goss threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Jason Hatcher, Jr early in the second half to put Attucks on the board. The Fighting Irish improve to 4-3 this season, while the Tigers fall to 2-4. Cathedral hosts 4-3 Covington Catholic Friday at the Sellick Bowl on the Butler University campus. The Irish lost to the Colonels in Kentucky last year 17-10.
