Rosie Travioli Qualifies for State Finals ROCHESTER, INDIANA - the South Vermillion Women’s Wrestling team traveled to Rochester High School for the Inaugural IHSAA Women’s Regional Wrestling Tournament. Rosie Travioli made school history by qualifying for the State Finals. She placed third at the Rochester Regionals in the 155-weight class. She will go down as the first female Wildcat to make it to the State Finals. In the first round, Wildcat senior Rosie Travioli won her first match against Jenny Than (9-4) of Fort Wayne Wayne by fall in 1:00 to advance to the ticket. In the ticket round, Rosie Travioli punched her ticket to the State Finals when she won her match with a fall at 4:12 in the third period against Peru’s Olivia Brown (14-11). In the Semifinal round, Rosie Travioli lost this match to Olivia Bohde Sr. (31-5) from New Haven with a fall at 0:47 in the first period and will be wrestling for third or fourth place. In the Third Place Match, Rosie faced Jaelyn Guthrie, a Junior (7-4) from Twin Lakes, for third place. Rosie dominated her opponent and won by a technical fall at 4:58 in the third period. Rosie Travioli (20-2) shall wrestle next Friday at the IHSAA State Finals starting at 9:30 am with the Parade of Champions. This event will be held at the Corteva Coliseum at the Indiana State Fair Grounds in Indianapolis. “Rosie is setting the standard for all future lady Wildcat wrestlers. This being the first year for Girls wrestling sanctioned by the IHSAA” said Coach Ron Stateler.
