The Scottsburg Middle School track and field teams delivered an outstanding performance at the Mid-Southern Conference Meet last night, with the Warriorettes finishing as conference runner-up and the boys team earning an impressive third-place finish. The evening was highlighted by seven individual conference championships as Scottsburg athletes showcased their talent across multiple events. For the girls team, Mattie Pearcy dominated the distance races by capturing conference titles in both the 1600-meter run and the 800-meter run. Estie Stevens added two more championships by winning the 100-meter dash and the shot put, demonstrating her versatility on the track and in the field. Whitley Horn also brought home a conference title with a first-place finish in the high jump. On the boys side, Roman Craig sprinted his way to conference championships in both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, helping lead the Warriors to a strong third-place team finish. In addition to the conference success, Scottsburg Middle School qualified more than 40 entries for the regional meet. Coaches are optimistic about the program’s future, with expectations that between four and seven athletes could advance all the way to the state finals.
