East Chicago Central opened the first round of sectionals with a commanding 4–1 victory over River Forest. Jaye Niaves led the offense with two goals and two assists, setting up scores for Angelina Trevino and Kimberly Campuzano. The Cardinals’ attack stayed relentless throughout the match, with strong contributions from Jasmine Lott and Liliana Enriques, who both played key roles in maintaining pressure and control. On the defensive end, East Chicago showed discipline and toughness. Elani Ramirez, Reginna Cerda, and Sarah Rico anchored the back line with standout performances. Rico nearly added a fifth goal in the closing seconds, but it was ruled out.
