DANTE’S DIARIES VS CROS LEX 2-4-25 Richmond was looking forward to meet Cros Lex again for what looked like a game nobody can miss watching. But it would be a tough start for the Blue Devils touring the ball over multiple times in the first couple minutes of play would have them down 12-2 after coach Presnell would call timeout. Haskins would then ht a three point shot and went 2-2 at the charity stripe to cut the lead down to just a five point game down 12-7. Richmond would go on a 6-4 run to only be down by three 16-13 after the 1st quarter with some great made baskets by Edwards and Haskins. But Cros Lex would starting draw fouls early in the quarter with Lindman picking up two personals and Haskins also picking up two. The Pioneers would extend their lead by eight points with Richmond down 22-13. However, the Blue Devils weren’t going away as Haskins would cut the scoring drought hitting another three ball followed it up with a steal and scoring inn transitions for Carroll and Towner with a three pointer to only being down 24-21. Cros lex would get an inside bucket followed by Towner getting fouled and going 1-2 at the line to make it a 26-22 game. But the Pioneers wouldn’t stop finding ways to score as they would score another layup inside the post and added another as the whistle blew for halftime with Richmond down 30-22. It’s been a long time since the Blue Devils beat the Pioneers on their home floor since the ’18-’19 season. Edwards would start the 2nd half off with a three pointer but Cros Lex with hut a three of their own. It was back and fourth with missed opportunities on both sides that would eventually be a 40-36 ball game going into the 4th quarter. But at the end end, Richmond would not get any closer to at one point being down four points that would eventually a six point defeat for the Blue Devils after a late comeback at the end to make it close but couldn’t get over the hump tonight with your final score 63-57. Although it wasn’t the outcome they wanted, there was still some great performances by Haskins, Edwards, and Smalls that are your Blue Flame Propane Players of the game! Richmond will travel to North Branch on Friday to take on the Broncos 7:30. I will unfortunately not be at the game as my mom has her cheer meet that day also. #GoBlueDevils! #INTHEDEEPEND
