Falcons Gain Momentum in Final Meet Before WRC

North Vermillion competed Thursday night at Attica in a four-way meet against Seeger, Attica, and Covington. The boys finished second overall and picked up WRC wins over Attica and Covington, while the girls earned a WRC win over Covington.  Boys Highlights Emery Strubinger led the way with a strong night in two events. He placed third in the 200 Freestyle (2:23.86) and won the 100 Backstroke in 1:08.21, which was a personal best.  North Vermillion also scored well in relays. The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Austin Ball, Dylan Lamb, Brady Dryer, and Brandon Miller placed second in 1:57.51.  The 400 Freestyle Relay team of Austin Ball, Dylan Lamb, Brady Dryer, and Brandon Miller also placed second in 4:48.27.  The 200 Medley Relay team of Karsyn Wallace, Dylan Lamb, Brady Dryer, and Austin Ball finished third in 2:36.04.  Brandon Miller added key points with a second-place finish in the 100 Freestyle (1:04.23).  Brady Dryer contributed in the 50 Freestyle (28.77) and was part of both relay groups.  Karsyn Wallace raced the 100 Backstroke (1:37.51) and helped open the medley relay.  Girls Highlights Girls captain Riley Smith placed third in the 50 Freestyle (29.81) and second in the 100 Backstroke (1:22.37).  Marki Chambliss won the 100 Butterfly in 1:25.82 and also competed in the 50 Freestyle (32.07).  Taylor Norton finished sixth in the 100 Freestyle (1:28.44) and placed fifth in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:51.02, which was a personal best.  Looking Ahead The Falcons now turn their attention to the Wabash River Conference Championship meet, with prelims on January 22 and finals on January 24, both hosted at Attica High School.
