North Vermillion traveled to the Vigo County Aquatic Center on Monday night for their second meeting of the season with West Vigo. The Falcons turned in a strong overall performance, with the boys team earning a meet victory and the girls continuing to show progress as the postseason approaches. The boys opened the night with a solid showing in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The team of Karsyn Wallace, Dylan Lamb, Brady Dryer, and Austin Ball placed second with a time of 2:45.14. That momentum carried into the freestyle relays later in the meet. North Vermillion won the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:58.71 and followed it up with a first-place finish in the 400 Freestyle Relay, touching in 4:37.76. Emery Strubinger continued his strong season by placing second in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:22.75 and later won the 100 Backstroke in 1:12.82. Brady Dryer added points in the 200 IM, while Austin Ball and Brandon Miller led the sprint freestyle events. Ball won the 50 Freestyle in 27.54, with Miller close behind. Miller later won the 100 Freestyle with a time of 1:01.98. Karsyn Wallace set a new personal best in the 50 Freestyle, continuing his steady improvement this season. On the girls side, Riley Smith placed second in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 29.88 and earned a first-place finish in the 100 Backstroke in 1:21.70. Marki Chambliss won the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:23.92 and also competed in the 50 Freestyle earlier in the meet. Taylor Norton placed second in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:51.30 and added a fourth-place finish in the 100 Freestyle. The boys team earned the overall meet victory, while the girls finished second overall. The meet served as an important tune-up as North Vermillion turns its focus to the WRC meet next week.
