Falcons Swim to Second-Place Finishes at Attica 4-Way

North Vermillion competed in a four-way meet at Attica on Thursday night and came away with a strong overall performance, with both the boys and girls teams finishing second overall. Both teams picked up WRC victories at the meet, with the boys defeating Attica and Covington, and the girls earning wins over Covington and non-WRC opponent Central Catholic. The boys opened the meet with a third-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. The team of Karsyn Wallace, Dylan Lamb, Brady Dryer, and Kaleb Stambaugh touched the wall in 2:45.14. In the 200 Freestyle, Emery Strubinger continued a strong season by placing first with a time of 2:26.48. North Vermillion had multiple standout swims in the 50 Freestyle. On the girls side, Riley Smith finished second in 29.89, while Marki Chambliss placed fourth in 32.15. For the boys, Austin Ball placed third with a 27.54. Kaleb Stambaugh, Dylan Lamb, and Karsyn Wallace all set new personal bests in the event, while Brandon Miller finished fourth in 30.07. Marki Chambliss followed with a first-place finish in the 100 Butterfly, winning the event with a time of 1:23.46. In the 100 Freestyle, Taylor Norton placed fifth on the girls side with a time of 1:27.16. For the boys, Brandon Miller earned a second-place finish in 1:03.18, and Austin Ball placed fourth in 1:09.88. The boys 200 Freestyle Relay team of Brandon Miller, Dylan Lamb, Brady Dryer, and Austin Ball delivered one of the highlights of the night, winning the event in 2:01.85, a season-low time. Riley Smith returned to the pool in the 100 Backstroke and placed second with a time of 1:22.85. Emery Strubinger followed with a third-place finish in the boys 100 Backstroke, touching in 1:11.41. Taylor Norton added a third-place finish in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:53.67. The meet concluded with the 400 Freestyle Relay. The boys team of Brandon Miller, Dylan Lamb, Brady Dryer, and Austin Ball finished second with a time of 4:49.62. Overall, the girls team finished second, and the boys team finished second while securing key WRC wins over conference opponents. North Vermillion will be back in action on Monday, January 12, at West Vigo at the Vigo County Aquatic Center.
