North Vermillion Girls Open Season With Strong Showing at Attica

The Falcons opened their season Tuesday night at Attica in a four-team meet with Attica, Fountain Central, and Covington. With only three swimmers competing, North Vermillion still came away with three event wins, several personal bests, and a team victory over Covington. Riley Smith — Double Winner + Two New PRs Girls Team Captain Riley Smith kicked off her junior season with two outstanding swims. • 1st — 50 Freestyle (30.81) Personal Best (previous: 31.25, drop of 0.44) • 1st — 100 Backstroke (1:19.77) Personal Best (previous: 1:22.36, drop of 2.59) Marki Chambliss — Event Win + Two PRs Marki recorded personal bests in both of her events and helped secure a strong finish for NV. • 1st — 100 Butterfly (1:23.62) Personal Best (previous: 1:27.55, drop of 3.93) • 2nd — 50 Freestyle (31.60) Personal Best (previous: 33.63, drop of 2.03) Finished right behind teammate Riley Smith, giving NV a solid 1–2 finish in the 50 Free, and showed major improvements in the 100 Fly, one of the toughest events in swimming. Taylor Norton — PR in the 50 Free Taylor had a promising start to her sophomore season. • 50 Freestyle — 37.46 Personal Best (previous: 42.29, drop of 4.83) Team Notes North Vermillion finished the night with: • 3 event wins • 5 personal bests • A team win over Covington, 26-9 A strong opening meet for the Falcons. The girls will be back in action with the boys this coming Monday at home vs West Vigo.
