NORTH JUDSON, Ind. – NJSP had a short week of athletics after celebrating Labor day on Monday but still finished the week out strong. 𝙁𝙊𝙇𝙇𝙊𝙒 𝙐𝙎: @𝙉𝙅𝙎𝙋_𝘼𝙏𝙃𝙇𝙀𝙏𝙄𝘾𝙎 VOLLEYBALL Volleyball started the week out on Tuesday, September 6 when the Lady Jays played the Triton Trojans. The Jays fell short in a tough fought battle losing 3-1. Leading the team in blocks was Gracie Minix with 5 blocks and Hailey Yuhasz with 3 blocks. Lindley Martin led the team with 16 kills, followed by Sophia Frasure with 7 of her own. Altogether, the Lady Jays notched 10 aces, 8 total blocks, and 31 kills. On Thursday, September 8, the Lady Jays won an intense game against the Lady Redskins. Blue and Gold won in 3 sets with senior Kennedy Baxter leading the team with 21 assists. Senior Hailey Yuhasz and Junior Lindley Martin finished the game with 24 Digs. Senior Sophia Frasure led the team with 11 kills and Lindley Martin followed close behind with 8 kills. Volleyball has a busy week ahead with three matches and the Tippy Valley Invitational on Saturday, September 17th. BOY”S TENNIS Boy’s tennis hosted just one match last week coming out on top 4-1 against New Prairie High School. Winning for the Jays was AJ Bau at one singles (6-1, 6-3), Wyatt Stowe at two singles (2-6, 6-2, 6-3), and in a close match three singles Caleb Ginder was victorious (7-5, 7-5). One doubles Damien Frasure and Lukas Burkett lost a three set match (6-4, 3-6, 2-6) while two doubles Nathan Faldinski and Ebert White notched the last win of the night for Blue and Gold (6-2, 6-1) Tennis is back in action on Monday, September 12 where they host HNAC foe, the Knox Redskins. CROSS COUNTRY The cross country team competed in the Hokum Karem at Plymouth High School on Wednesday, September 7th. For the girls, 18 total teams competed with the Lady Jays finishing 4th all together. Team Radtke and Lehiy finished 4th as a duo, team Burkett and Carter finished 13th and team Thompson and Ludwig were right behind finishing 14th. For the boys, there were a total of 31 teams. Finishing in 14th place was team Fogus and Rossa and behind them was team Minix, Lidgard, and Brazauskas in 18th place. Cross country is back in action on Tuesday, September 13th at LaVille. FOOTBALL North Judson came out on top with a 26-0 win last Friday night against cross county rivals, the Knox Redskins. Leading for the Bluejays was Brock Benson with 160 rushing yards and 1 touch down with Cheyenne Allen notching 94 rushing yards with 2 touchdowns of his own. After breaking the all time scoring record last week, Allen added to his accomplishments breaking the all-time rushing record with 3,034 all time rushing yards. The record was previously set by Terry Howard in 2008. Senior quarterback Aldric Harper also had 1 passing touchdown to Jesiah McDaniel. The Bluejay defense was stout Friday night only allowing 92 total offensive yards with Quinton Frasure and Logan Radtke leading the Bluejays in tackles Football is on the road this Friday, September 16th at Winamac High School as they look to continue their undefeated season. GIRL”S GOLF On Saturday, September 10th, the girl’s golf team competed in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference and placed 4th out of 8 teams with a score of 487. The Jays were victorious over LaVile, Culver, Caston, and Triton where Winamac, Knox, and Pioneer finished in the top three on the day. Earning all-conference honorable mention was senior Emily Gundlach. The girl’s continue their season on Monday, September 12th as they travel to Hamlet Golf Course for a Monday night match against South Central.
