NORTH JUDSON, Ind. – Last week, North Judson-San Pierre fall sports competed in multiple events, making the NJSP community proud! 𝙁𝙊𝙇𝙇𝙊𝙒 𝙐𝙎: @𝙉𝙅𝙎𝙋_𝘼𝙏𝙃𝙇𝙀𝙏𝙄𝘾𝙎 GIRL’S GOLF After canceling their match against LaCross due to extreme weather conditions on Monday, August 29, the Lady Jays hit the course on Wednesday against Boone Grove. On August 31, senior Emily Gundlach shot a team low with a score of 58. Sophia Chaffins and Morgan Hensley both shot a 61 with Kaylee Jackson bringing up the tail end shooting a 69 for the Jays. Blue and gold as a team shot a 243 to secure a win over Boone grove who shot a 251 for the night. Golf will travel for an away match Thursday, September 8th at Winamac before competing in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference meet on Saturday, September 10th with a 9 AM (CST) tee off. VOLLEYBALL Volleyball’s match against Twin Lakes was also canceled due to weather conditions but the Jays finished 1-1 on the week. Wednesday night the Jays lost in three sets to a skilled Kouts team. Blue and Gold started a new win streak on Thursday, September 1 against North White where they were victorious over the Vikings in a five set battle. Leading the team in kills was junior Lindley Martin, notching 31 kills and 11 aces against the Lady Vikings. Sophia Frasure, Grace Craig, and Gracie Minix all had 6 kills each for the Jays. Setter, Kennedy Baxter, tallied 48 assists on the night while Reese Johnson had 36 digs for the Lady Jays. Volleyball is scheduled for two games this week with the first taking place at home on Tuesday, September 6th against conference opponent, the Triton Trojans. The Jays will then be on the road on Thursday for another conference matchup against Knox. BOY”S TENNIS Boy’s tennis hosted two matches last week, dropping both to Rochester and Rensselaer. On Tuesday, August 30, Brennan Trent and Ebert White came out on top against the Rochester Zebras capturing the two doubles win in three sets (6-4, 5-7, 6-2) Falling short for the Jays was AJ Bau (2-6, 6-3, 3-6) at one singles, Nathan Faldinski (2-6, 1-6) at two singles, and Caleb Ginder (4-6, 3-6) at three singles. One doubles, Damien Frasure and Lukas Burkett (1-6, 2-6) also suffered a loss to the Zebras leaving NJSP 1-4 on the night. Later on that week on Thursday September 1st, the Bluejays hosted the Rensselaer Bombers. Adding a mark in the win column for the Jays was one doubles, Damien Frasure and Lukas Burkett (2-6, 6-1, 6-2), and two doubles, Ebert White and Nathan Faldzinski (6-3, 6-1). As a team, the Jays fell short to the Bombers 2-3. Tennis prepares for one match this week on Thursday, September 8th against New Prairie at home with a 4 PM (CST) start. CROSS COUNTRY The cross country team had a light week competing in only one event last Saturday, September 3 at Caston. Jocilynn Radtke finished first for NJSP girls and in the top 15 for the invite while David Rossa finished first for NJSP boys and top 15 for the invite. North Judson girls finished fifth overall out of 14 teams defeating five conference teams. The boys finished 14th defeating conference opponent, the Triton Trojans. Cross Country will compete again on Tuesday, September 7th at the Plymouth Hokum Karem with a 4:30 PM (CST) start. FOOTBALL Last Friday, the North Judson-San Pierre Bluejays face Calumet Christian. With a dominating first half, the Jays started halftime up 52-0 and was not stopping there. Senior Cheyenne Allen became the new record holder at NJSP for touchdowns and most points scored, breaking a 37 year-old record. Allen is just 90 yards away from breaking the school’s rushing yards record. Blue and Gold ended on top holding the Comets scoreless and capturing the 62-0 win. Football returns home on Friday, September 9th against Knox where North Judson-San Pierre will celebrate 75 years of Bluejay Football.
