While in Texas, Coach Sommers began coaching at the Soccer Lions Academy, where he was charged with being the Director of Strategic Planning. He later earned a Master’s in Ministry in 2022. “I’m honored to lead this program and excited to build a team that competes at the highest level with unity, character, and passion,” Sommers stated after being hired. Statement from Chad Smith, Athletic Director at Pendleton Heights: “We are happy to have Coach Sommers a part of PHHS Athletics. We were impressed with his emphasis on the mental part of the game as well as his training in the struggles that our adolescent student-athletes face on and off of the field on a daily basis. Family is important to him which will fit well with our vision. We believe he is equipped with the ability to handle the variety of scenarios that arise as the head coach of a high school program.” Girls Soccer will open the season with a conference home game against Yorktown on August 16, 2025.
