The Arabians were able to bounce back on the road tonight with an HHC victory over the New Castle Trojans, 63-59. Pendleton Heights jumped out to the early lead behind a layup from Cooper Sims and a three from Evan Mozingo. The Trojans answered right back to tie the game at 5 halfway through the first quarter. The Arabian offense began to stall, plagued by turnovers and missed shots, and the Trojans were able to take their first lead of the game. Good offensive execution at the end of the quarter led to a bucket by Ashann Singh which brought the Arabians within two by the end of the first, 13-11. Sims scored first in the second quarter to tie the game up again, but back-to-back threes then put the Trojans up by six. Then it was the Arabians' turn to make a quick run, starting with two from Singh and then back-to-back triples from Sims. A three by New Castle was quickly followed by a timeout as the Trojans attempted to secure the lead. Hayden Fox would strike next with another three, one of six in the half by the Arabians. The teams continued to battle back and forth, and halfway through the contest the game would stand at 30-29 in favor of the Trojans. The third quarter started with New Castle scoring three at a time, beyond the arc and through the hoop and the harm, but the Arabians would have an answer each time and kept the game within four. Then, PH took advantage of back-to-back turnovers by the Trojans, and the visitors would edge in front, 40-39. The back-and-forth continued as part of the 18 lead changes and 7 ties seen in this game! When the dust settled at the end of the third, each team had 44 points on the scoreboard. Mozingo scored first in the fourth, but New Castle answered with another "and-one" to take the lead, 47-46. Then, Singh hit Fox on a beautiful slip from the elbow, but the Trojans came right back and took the lead again. After a Sims three and Sing finding Estes for the "and-one," Coach Buck took a timeout up 54-49 with five and a half minutes to play. The Trojans showed plenty of grit, grinding out a couple of possessions and making 3 of 4 free throws earned, but a back cut layup by Mozingo kept the Arabians in front. Another timeout was taken with three minutes to go and the Arabians up by two. The game was clearly still up for grabs, and each team was fighting for every rebound and every possession, but the ball belonged to PH for a majority of the final minutes and Singh hit enough free throws to keep the lead. Although the Trojans would fly up the floor to bring the game back within three before their final timeout, the Arabians would inbound the ball to Mozingo with two seconds remaining and he would hit the final free throw to seal the deal, 63-59. Sims led the Arabians with 22 points, including 4/8 from three and a perfect 4/4 at the free throw line. Singh turned in a solid game with 13 points, 5 boards, 3 assists and 2 steals. Fox scored 10 points with 5 assists and 2 steals, and Mozingo was the fourth Arabian to score in double figures tonight, scoring 10 and leading the team with 6 assists. Joe Estes was also working hard on both ends of the floor, finishing with 5 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals. The Arabians have two games remaining in their regular season. They return home for Senior Night against Muncie Central on Saturday, and then go to Centerville next week for the regular season finale.
