The Arabians hosted the Hamilton Southeastern Royals Saturday night in a non-conference matchup. Both teams were eager for a victory, and the intensity was there from the opening tip. Brandt Gray opened the scoring for Pendleton Heights with a triple to tie it at 3, and then Joe Estes answered an HSE score with a basket of his own. The Royals would hit another three, but Evan Mozingo hit a couple of free throws and Estes scored another basket inside to give the Arabians a 9-8 lead late in the quarter. HSE then went on a 7-2 run to end the first quarter and open the second quarter, but after Ashann Singh and Estes scored inside to tie it at 15, a free throw by Singh gave PH a 16-15 lead. The Royals answered quickly, and continued to make the Arabians work for every shot as the second quarter closed at 31-23 in favor of the Royals. The contest remained physical after halftime, and while the Arabians struck first with a three-pointer from Hayden Fox, the Royals responded with seven unanswered points, leading to a PH timeout. Mozingo came out of that break with the hoop and the harm, and another Fox three cut the deficit to 8. HSE continued to play hard, getting to the free-throw line and converting to answer every shot the Arabians could hit, and by the end of the third quarter the Royals had extended their lead to 13. As the fourth quarter began to slip away, each team would press and attack, and Pendleton Heights could not find a way to stop the momentum that HSE has gained with their fast and physical play. The visitors would maintain their lead throughout the fourth, coming away with a 77-59 victory over the Arabians. Mozingo led PH with 15 points and also grabbed 3 rebounds. Fox scored 12 and contributed 3 assists and 2 steals. Singh also reached double digits with 10 points and led the team with 4 assists and 2 rebounds. Estes scored 8 points and grabbed 2 rebounds. The next game for the Arabians will be a Hoosier Heritage Conference matchup at home, hosting Yorktown on Thursday, February 6.
