The Arabians hosted New Palestine in a HHC clash tonight, but could not come up with the victory, losing by a score of 59-51. Hayden Fox opened with a 3-pointer on PH's first trip down the court, and Joe Estes followed with a two a couple possessions later. New Pal responded with 8 unanswered points as early turnovers plagued the Arabians. A three-ball by Evan Mozingo tied it at 8 about halfway through the quarter, and then Ashann Singh scored and inside basket, but 4 more turnovers gave New Pal the opportunity to go up 16-10 at the end of the first quarter. The pace slowed down a bit in the second quarter, and after two consecutive putbacks by Singh, a three by Cooper Sims cut the New Pal lead to 3. A short run by the visitors was met by another three from Fox and two baskets by Sims, the second of which came off a great assist from Singh. The game went into intermission with the score New Pal 28, PH 24. After not shooting any free throws in the first half, the Arabians made it to the line early in the third quarter, going 5 of 6 and cutting the lead to 1. New Pal then scored an old-fashioned three-point play, but a Sims basket and another Singh putback tied the game at 33 about halfway through the third quarter. New Pal scored consecutive putbacks, but Sims answered with 2 more made shots and tied it back up at 37. A couple PH turnovers allowed the visitors to control the game 42-39 heading into the fourth quarter. New Palestine slowly extended their lead to open the fourth, and solidified an 8-point lead with a quick timeout after a made three. The Arabians continued to battle offensively, but could not get the stops they needed to pull closer, and New Palestine was able to come away with the win. Sims led Pendleton Heights again with 20 points, also grabbing 4 rebounds. Fox added 10 points on a very good shooting night, making 2 of 3 attempts from downtown and converting all 4 of his free throws. Mozingo scored 9 and led the team with 4 assists. Singh scored 8 and led PH with 5 boards. Joe Estes scored 4 with 2 assists and 2 blocked shots. The Arabians will look to bounce back tomorrow night as they host Shelbyville.
