The Arabians got back in the win column Saturday night with a 15-point victory over the Lions of Liberty Christian, 60-45. After a slow start, the teams traded buckets early and then some hot three-point shooting gave Liberty Christian an 11-4 lead. Evan Mozingo stopped the run with a three of his own, followed by eight straight points from Cooper Sims, who finished with 12 in the first quarter alone. Sims was just getting started. The second quarter opened with a three by each team, and then after a couple scrambled plays and an inside basket by the Lions, Hayden Fox connected on a three-pointer to put Pendleton Heights back up by 2. The game continued at a frenetic pace, but the Arabians were able to regain control and take a 29-25 lead into halftime. The Lions made the first two baskets of the third quarter to tie the game up, but the Arabians would soon take off and not looking back. Sims added another three and Joe Estes converted on a pair of free throws, and then Ashann Singh stepped into a pivotal like with a putback and a pair of free throws himself. Singh's toughness was a critical aspect to the Arabians' solid play, as he handled the tremendous ball pressure Liberty Christian deployed. The fourth quarter began in favor of PHHS, 43-37, and their lead would only grow from there. Singh continued to see through the double teams and find Cooper Sims, who was relentless in his scoring. Sims scored 15 in the final frame and finished the game with a double-double on 33 points and 10 rebound. Singh contributed to many of those baskets with 8 assists and a whopping 15 rebounds and 8 points of his own. Mozingo scored 9 on three triples, grabbing 4 rebounds himself, and Estes scored 4 with 7 boards. The Arabians will host Bishop Chatard in their next game, on Saturday, December 28.
