The Arabians dropped their season opener to the visiting Anderson Indians tonight by a score of 63-52. The visitors jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead, prompting a PHHS timeout as the Arabians looked to weather the storm. Anderson used their pressure to extend the lead throughout the first quarter and early into the second quarter as their lead hit double digits. Pendleton Heights stuck around with three-pointers from Cooper Sims and Evan Mozingo, and then Joe Estes blocked a shot at the rim and ran the floor for a put-back hoop and the foul. Estes converted the free throw and the Arabians had seized some momentum back. With their lead cut to 7, Anderson held the ball for the final 30 seconds of the first half, hitting a deep three as time expired to lead 32-22 at halftime. Anderson blitzed the Arabians again at the start of the third quarter with a 9-3 run. Although PHHS clawed back with a deep three from Hayden Fox to make it 41-30, the visitors finished the quarter on a 7-2 run to make it 48-32 after three quarters. Still, the Arabians refused to quit, attacking the paint and hitting layups. With a chance to cut the deficit to single digits, a missed opportunity at the rim led to an Anderson run-out and a 52-39 lead. A wild sequence of technical fouls provided another chance, but Anderson had an answer for every push the Arabians could provide. As time ran out on the Pendleton Heights comeback attempt, Anderson came away with the 63-52 win. Evan Mozingo led the Arabians with 16 points, including two three-pointers. Cooper Sims also added 14 with a pair of triples. Hayden Fox led the team with 7 rebounds and 6 assists, also scoring 8 points. Ashaan Singh scored 6 and grabbed 4 boards, and Joe Estes scored 5 and blocked two shots. The Arabians travel to Wapahani High School for their next game on Saturday night, November 30th.
