Arabians Defeat Mt. Vernon With Opening Round Win in Sectional Play

After getting down 2-0 in the first, the Arabians responded with a four-run second inning. The Marauders would threaten in the bottom of the seventh, but the Arabians held on for the 4-3 win. The win would end the season for Mt. Vernon and push the Arabians through to the semi-final round of sectional play. Offensively, Clint Miller was the star of the night. After a Jackson Grile walk to lead off the inning, Miller turned on a 1-0 fastball and lined it over the left field fence for a home run to tie the game. The Arabians would go on to plate two more runs following Miller’s blast. Miller would finish the day 2-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Jackson Grile recorded a multi-hit day as well going 2-2 with a double, walk, and a run scored. Colin Axel-Adams went 1-2 with a walk and an RBI. Colton Frank went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored as well. On the mound, Brayden Stevenson got the start and went 5.2 innings. He allowed two runs on one hit while striking out seven en route to earning the win. Jacob Garner came in and got the save pitching the final 1.1 innings. He allowed one run on one hit and struck out two. The Arabians advance to Saturday’s semi-final game where they will take on the Greenfield-Central Cougars. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00pm at New Palestine High School.
