In a joint effort between two Hoosier Heritage Conference schools, the varsity basketball game between Pendleton Heights and Greenfield-Central on January 26, 2024 will be a Coaches vs Cancer Night. This is a nationwide event that unites coaches across the country to raise funds and awareness about the fight against cancer and promotes the American Cancer Society. Coaches from both teams will wear sneakers with their suits as a visible reminder of their support of the American Cancer Society. Each year, coaches across the country in the last full week of January contribute in the mission to end cancer for everyone. During the boys’ varsity basketball game, the Pendleton Heights Arabians along with the Greenfield-Central Cougars will help do their part to end cancer by supporting those in attendance with cancer, honoring someone they may know that has died from cancer, and will also take up a collection from the spectators to be donated to the American Cancer Society. For 30 years, the Coaches vs Cancer Program, in collaboration with the National Association of Basketball Coaches, has united coaches and fans nationwide to help the American Cancer Society defeat a common enemy…CANCER. The passion and dedicated support from all involved has led to great advancements and better treatments over the past three decades. However, cancer is still taking lives. We encourage everyone to take part in our Coaches vs Cancer Night on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Pendleton Heights. For more information visit coachesvscancer.org. HOW TO HELP During the game, listen to the PA announcer for ways that you or a group can help cancer research. Much has done but we still have a ways to go in the search for a cure. TODAY, I HONOR... Spectators will be able to honor someone by writing their name in the sheets provided at the game. There will be a table with markers in the lobby after spectators enter. Spectators will be asked to hold up their sign in unison during a moment of silence prior to the National Anthem during the varsity game. FINANCIAL DONATION Buckets will be passed around the gym during the first quarter asking for a donation. Any amount is appreciated and no amount is too small or too large. Pendleton Heights and Greenfield-Central thanks you in advance for your support of our Coaches vs Cancer Night. We look forward to hosting the event as well as contributing to finding a cure for cancer, once and for all!
