Pendleton Heights put the state on notice when they gave the sectional favorites everything they could handle on Monday in the IHSAA Boys Golf Sectional at Fox Prairie Golf Course. When it was said and done, the Arabians finished third on the day and advanced the entire team to Thursday's IHSAA Regional at The Players Club. Underrated all season long by the pollsters, the Arabians put themselves in position to win a team title but came up short by one stroke shooting a 297. Noblesville (296) claimed the championship by virtue of the 5th player tiebreaker over Hamilton Southeastern (296). Hayden Fox had a day as well to lead the Arabians with a 70. The senior finished 18-holes tied with HSE's Mattingly Upchurch for individual medalist and sectional champion. The two leaders went to a playoff with Upchurch winning the hole and Fox settling for sectional runner-up. The rest of the Arabians did their part to ensure the whole team advanced. Zach Zoeller (74), Max Thompson (76), Quinten Carey (77), and Cooper Suchyna (84) rounded out the team scoring for the green and white. State Tournament play continues this Thursday with the Arabians traveling to Yorktown for the IHSAA Regional at The Players Club. Solid play will be needed again as the top three team finishers and the top three individuals not on an advancing team will move on to the IHSAA State Finals next week. Regional play begins at 8:00 am. The Arabians will tee off from hole 10 in the following order. Cooper Suchyna (9:40); Max Thompson (9:50); Quinten Carey (10:00); Zach Zoeller (10:10); and Hayden Fox (10:20). There is no charge for admission at the regional.
