Pendleton Heights made history on the track as the girls 4x100 relay team of Sophia Bruce, Grace Lee, Maddy Pfister, and Aleah Robinson delivered a record-breaking performance across two standout meets. The group first made headlines at the Madison County Track & Field Championships on Friday, April 17, where they surpassed the long-standing county record of 50.86 seconds, originally set in 2019. That performance set the stage for an even bigger moment the following week. At a home meet against New Palestine on Thursday, April 23, the quartet elevated their performance to another level, sprinting to a time of 49.61 seconds. In doing so, they not only lowered their newly established county mark, but also shattered the Pendleton Heights school record of 50.80, which had stood since 1984 and was previously held by Julie Cauley, Teffenie Holloway, Sherri Rinker, and Terri Rinker. From start to finish, the relay showcased elite speed, seamless hand-offs, and outstanding composure. Their progression from a record-breaking run at the county meet to an even faster performance on their home track highlights the team’s growth, focus, and competitive drive. After 42 years, the record has finally fallen, marking a historic achievement for this group and a defining moment for Pendleton Heights Track & Field.
