2023 Marion Invitational – ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW!!!! Time Schedule: 8:20 am National Anthem 8:30 am Boys Purple Varsity Race (Max of 12 per team) 9:00am Girls Purple Varsity Race (Max of 12 per team) 9:30 am Boys Elite ELITE Varsity Race (Max of 12 per team) 10:00 am Chuck Schlemmer Girls Elite Varsity Race (Max of 12 per team) 10:30 am JV Boy Race (Elite, Purple, Gold) Unlimited 11:10 am JV Girls Race (Elite, Purple, Gold) Unlimited 11:50 am Boys Gold Varsity Race (Max of 12 per team) 12:20 pm Girls Gold Varsity Race (Max of 12 per team) 12:50 pm Boys Middle School Race (Max of 30 per team) 1:20 pm Girls Middle School Race (Max of 30 per team) Course Address to USE: 4990 S. Harmon St. Marion, IN 46953 DOG’s! Let’s get this out of the way right now. Instruct your parents to NOT bring dogs to the course. They either stay in the car or stay at home! The ONLY dogs permitted on the course MUST be CLEARLY IDENTIFIED SERVICE DOGS THAT ARE VESTED WITH SERVICE DOG WRITTEN ON THE HARNESS. Team Drop off / Bus Parking: Teams can be dropped off at the course entrance on Harmon St. Attached is a very specific map of this process. This can be given to your parents as well. Once teams are dropped off…buses will go park at the IWU Facilities Lot. Spectators will also park in this lot! Once your team is ready to leave you will need to walk to your bus in the parking lot! Buses are NOT allowed to come back to the course! Spectators: All spectators are expected to park at the IWU Facilities lot and take the short walk to the entrance of the course. Parking is also available at the church located off 50th St that is at the end of the main straightaway of the XC course. There WILL be gate taken for this event of $5.00 (Cash) per person ages 10 and older! DO NOT attempt to park in the local Nursing Homes, Apartment Complexes Lots…they are testy about that and will have cars towed away!!!! IWU Facilities is the only secure location for this event! Packet Pick-Up / Return: As your team arrives…we will have a tent set up just inside the gate for you to come get your Team Packet! Packets are prepared by registered GENDER! Your team packet will consist of: Roster of your submitted entries. On the roster has your athletes assigned competitor Bib Number / Chip #. Safety Pin’s – there are ENOUGH pins for 4 pins per bib! Sandwich bag with your chips. This bag has a label on it that has your SCHOOL, GENDER, and # of athletes Entered! At the end of the meet…PUT ALL USED AND UNUSED Chips BACK in the SAME Sandwich bag! Put them in NUMERICAL number and make sure the number of the chips match the number on the FRONT of that bag! If the bag says 15 and you have 10 chips…you have 5 missing and need to locate them. On the way out…drop that chip bag back off where you got your packets!! EASY AS IT GETS!!!! Chips and Bibs MUST Match to your assigned runner. No Exceptions! If you forgot a person on your entries we can sub them in for a runner that isn’t running but I will not be adding new chips or bibs the day of! Awards: We will NOT be doing a FORMAL awards ceremony. It just doesn’t work out with a meet of this size to hold teams and find the space! The team champion and the team runner up each get the NEW plaques (VERY VERY Cool Design). The 1st Place Individual of Each VARSITY and Middle School Race will get a plaque and medal. The top 35 Places in each Varsity and Middle School Races will get medals! To get these awards we ask that the coach come and pick these up next to the packet pick-up area!!! Results: Results will be LIVE on www.crossroadstiming.com You will just need to go to the LIVE link. Click on the Marion Invitational and then click on the right event to see it live. We will post PDF’s On the Results Boards during the meet. At the end of the meet, I will email you ALL a PDF of the FULL Results and I will upload them to Direct Athletics. This will be ONLY website I will upload them to. DO NOT ASK for them to be posted to ANet. Won’t happen from my end. Races: We ask that your runners report to their Assigned Box 15 min prior to Race Time so that our starters and clerks can get everyone checked in! We WILL start the races ON TIME!!!! We will not hold up races! Your runners MUST be able to complete the course in 30 min or less! If they cannot…either do NOT put them in the race OR they must be understanding that they MUST step off the course at 30 min and not attempt to cross the finish line. Marion HS will be covering our athletic trainer duties and will be stationed at the cross country building. We will NOT be providing water at the finish area. If you have an athlete with medical issues. Please let our head trainer know this so that we can be prepared. T-SHIRTS: FINE DESIGNS will again be at the meet and will be selling apparel! I am attaching the current design. VERY Retro “Saved By The Bell” look this year!!! Food: This weekend … Kona Ice and an authentic Mexican food truck! Excellent food!!!
