Golf (Girls Varsity) Scores

It was beautiful weather tonight as the Girls Golf team traveled to Harbour Trees GC to take on Noblesville and Kokomo. The course is in beautiful shape and the girls had their first taste of the sectional course for the season. The course proved to be too tough for the girls tonight as we fell to Noblesville for our first loss in dual or three way matches. Noblesville turned in a team score of 174 and the Lady Arabians a 197. Kokomo only had three players this year, so they couldn't win in the match. We had two players turn in decent scores for the tough course. Seniors, Skylar Baldwin and Kelsey Day both shot 47. Skylar had a great start to the match by having a birdie on the first hole. Things took a turn when her chipping got away from her. Kelsey Day would have had a much better score if the last hole hadn't given her trouble. Senior, Audrey Jenkins had a couple of holes where she took double par and that hurt her final score of 52. On the upside for Audrey, she had found the sand traps tonight, but made easy work of that part of her game with great shots getting out and onto the green. Senior, Addie Nichols, couldn't seem to get away from the double bogies and had a score of 51. Addie was driving the ball really well, but I think she had some trouble putting on the tough greens. Our final score of 53 was from Junior, Addison Summerall. Addison, started the match off with a great par on hole #1 and a bogey on #2. However, Addison found trouble and the water twice on a par 3 causing her to add unnecessary strokes to her score. I would have been really pleased tonight if I could have had 4 girls shoot bogey golf, but that wasn't in the cards for tonight. I was very pleased with the way the girls were driving the ball off the tee. I would say their drives are the strongest part of their game. We really need to work on our chipping and putting as this is the weakest part of our game. Still proud that they didn't give up. This was a great preview for sectional play. Great Job ladies.
