The Pendleton Heights Lady Arabians varsity team boasts a deep bench of talent to complement their experienced starting lineup. With three returning starters, junior Aubree Warfel steps confidently into a key role alongside transfer standout Sami Brunk. Under the direction of Coach Nick Rogers, the Lady Arabians opened their season with an impressive 65–51 victory over the Westfield Shamrocks — their first win against Westfield since a narrow 42–41 triumph back in 2017. This year’s squad has showcased a team chemistry unlike any in recent seasons. Their connection on and off the court has been a driving force behind their early success. Newcomers Brunk and Grace Lee have quickly proven to be vital additions, blending seamlessly into the Arabians’ system. Pendleton Heights set the tone early, jumping out to a 35–21 halftime lead and extending their advantage to 52–39 at the end of the third quarter. Westfield, known for their sharp perimeter shooting, mounted a late rally, but the Arabians’ poise and unity carried them through to the final buzzer for a statement win to open the season. Now, the Lady Arabians look to reset and refocus as they hit the road for a Hoosier Heritage Conference matchup against New Castle High School on Tuesday, November 11th at 7:30 p.m. Mamie Trout - 1 rebound, 1 assist, 2 steals Ellie Warfel - 9pts, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals Olivia Jones - 13pts, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block Sophia Bruce - 1 point Aubree Warfel - 11pts, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals, 2 charges Grace Lee - 6pts, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals Jada McGraw - 1 rebound Sami Brunk - 12pts, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal Adah Hupfer - 13pts, 11 rebounds, 4 steals The Pendleton Heights Lady Arabians Junior Varsity opened their season with a tough 43–18 loss to Westfield. With four returning sophomores and six new freshmen, the young squad is still finding its chemistry and settling into new roles on the court alongside new junior varsity coach Janessa Chesnic. Sophomore Anya Zoeller was sidelined for the opener as she recovers from a standout cross country state run. After a slow first half that saw the Arabians trail 20–6 at the break, the team regrouped and came out stronger in the third quarter, putting up 10 points and showing flashes of their potential. Despite a spirited second-half effort, Pendleton Heights couldn’t quite find their offensive rhythm, but the game offered valuable lessons and a glimpse of what this developing group is capable of.
