Crown Point High School saw its four-game winning streak come to an end Monday, September 21, falling 2-1 to Hanover Central. The Wildcats scored twice in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into halftime, but the Bulldogs continued to battle and cut the deficit in the second half when freshman Brody Kurtz scored on a free kick. Crown Point generated two excellent scoring opportunities during the final 10 minutes but was unable to finish either chance, allowing Hanover Central to hold on for the victory. The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 6-5 on the season after an impressive stretch that included four consecutive shutout victories over Culver Academy, Portage, La Porte, and Chesterton. MaxPreps lists Crown Point with 23 goals scored and 13 goals allowed through the first 11 matches, with junior AJ Cop leading the Bulldogs offensively and Brody Kurtz providing a strong contribution as a freshman. Despite the setback, Crown Point has demonstrated significant improvement throughout the season and will look to rebound as the Bulldogs enter the final portion of the regular season and prepare for the postseason.
