Crown Point High School continued its strong run Wednesday with a 2-0 victory over Chesterton High School. The Bulldogs and Trojans played to a scoreless draw through the first half before Crown Point broke through midway through the second half when Brody Leithleiter scored on a breakaway. With 10 minutes remaining, Ante Cop added the insurance goal to secure Crown Point’s fourth consecutive victory and fourth straight shutout. The Bulldogs have now outscored their opponents 10-0 during the four-game winning streak, following shutout victories over Culver Academy, Portage, La Porte, and Chesterton. MaxPreps lists junior AJ Cop as Crown Point’s leading scorer with six goals on the season, while freshman Brody Kurtz leads the team with four assists. Senior goalkeeper Oliver Brewer has also been a key contributor, posting a 1.058 goals-against average and averaging 3.1 saves per game. The victory improved Crown Point to 6-4 on the season and gives the Bulldogs considerable momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
