Crown Point Boys Track and Field turned in a strong all-around performance at home Tuesday night, defeating Valparaiso 127-5 and battling Merrillville to a 66-66 tie in a competitive three-team meet. Crown Point swept the top three spots in both the 800 and 1600. Jake Baumann led the way in the 800 with a winning time of 2:02.89, followed by Jakub Nurek and Jackson Barnes. In the 1600, Jackson Zona took first in 4:36.52, with Jake Metzger and Barnes right behind him to complete another 1-2-3 finish. Metzger added another first-place run in the 3200, while Zona placed second and Dominic Buonadonna finished fourth. The Bulldogs also won the 4x800 relay behind Zona, Metzger, Caleb Kotynski, and Baumann. Crown Point also picked up first-place finishes from Jay O’Barski in the high jump and Zaid Tadros in the discus. Those victories, along with key points across the lineup, helped the Bulldogs come away with both a team win over Valparaiso and a hard-fought tie with Merrillville.
