Cathedral High School is proud to announce that Mandy Long has been named the next head coach of the Fighting Irish Swim & Dive team. Long has served as an assistant coach with the program for the past two seasons, where she focused on refining technique and developing the skills of the swim team. “Becoming the head coach for the Cathedral Swim Program after serving as the assistant coach for the last two seasons is an exciting opportunity to apply my experience and passion for swimming,” Long said. “It’s a chance to lead the team, build on our previous successes, and foster a culture of growth and excellence among these athletes. I look forward to guiding them as they strive to reach their full potential in the pool.” During Long’s time as an assistant, the Irish captured a girls city championship, and standout swimmer Olive Cunningham ’28 set a new school record. “I am excited to have Coach Long serve as head coach and look forward to watching her continue to move the program in a positive direction,” said Athletic Director Rick Streiff. “The swim and dive team has a lot of potential at Cathedral, and Coach Long is the right person to help our student-athletes reach their goals.” Coach Long will hold a callout meeting on Thursday, May 8th at 6:00 PM in the Dining Hall at Cathedral. All returning team members and those interested in joining the team are encouraged to attend.
