It’s the 36th consecutive season the teams have played following only three regular season games and two post-season meetings in the 1980s. The Fighting Irish lead the series, 29-20, having won eight of the last ten contests against the Trojans. Last season, Chatard scored 24 unanswered points to defeat Cathedral on Saturday morning, 24-21, in a game that began on Friday night. The first half was played at Arlington Middle School as scheduled, but a lighting malfunction forced the game to be suspended and completed the next day at Chatard’s Alumni Field. The Fighting Irish enter tonight’s game having lost their last two outings including a, 35-31, defeat in the closing seconds last Friday at Cincinnati St. Xavier. The Trojans are undefeated following a hard-fought, 9-3, victory at Roncalli last week.
