Tonight’s matchup is the first-ever regular season football game between Cathedral and North Central. Their only previous meeting was in the first round of the 1976 IHSAA Class 3A state tournament. The Irish defeated the Panthers, 7-6, at C-Y-O Field. Cathedral enters tonight’s game with a 2-2 record following a 24-21 loss to Bishop Chatard last weekend in a contest that started Friday night but was suspended with the Irish leading 21-10 at halftime due to a lighting malfunction at Arlington Middle School. The game was completed last Saturday morning at Chatard’s Alumni Field. North Central enters tonight’s matchup with a record of 0-4, but all four Panthers’ losses have come against opponents ranked in Class 6A: #6 Fishers, #4 Hamilton Southeastern, #12 Warren Central and #10 Lawrence North. The Sagarin computer ratings, which consider opponent ratings and game location, rank North Central’s schedule as the second most difficult in the state.
