The boys and girls cross country teams competed in the 18 team Pioneer Invitational on Saturday. Senior Ava Brown led the Lady Pioneers with a 53rd place finish out of 93 runners in a time of 27.14 in the 5K race. The boys team finished 5th in the 18 team field. Top 30 finishers for the pioneers were Grant Montgomery finishing 3rd, Gavin Zint finished 22nd, and Caleb Gentry finished 27th. Rounding out the scoring for the Pioneers were Callahan Merkel and Darren Westerfield. Landon Boyer, Joe Henry, and senior Kam Jones also competed for the Pioneers. Great job on a fantastic start to the season. The Pioneers cross country teams will be back in action Saturday August 30th at Angel Mounds for the Dennis Bays invitational.
