BHS Girls Soccer Loses to Gibson Southern

By Adam Wadsworth | Aug 21, 2025 9:00 PM

Thursday night, an injury stricken lady Pioneers team took on PAC opponent Gibson Southern, falling to the titans 9-1. Despite the lopsided score, the pioneers played a lot of really promising soccer. The girls held their own in midfield, despite missing several key players. Morgan Poellein and Maya Cobb held down the center of the pitch, intercepting numerous passes and starting the attack. Ava Kelley and Ellie Tieman continued to build a partnership up top, with Ellie playing in Ava for her first goal of the season. Ava was clean through to the keeper and she finished beautifully to the corner of the goal. The team spent the first 10 minutes of the second half dominating possession and creating opportunities, but tired legs and a few mental errors let the Titans add to their score. Irie Squires played a full 80 minutes of varsity play, and stopped numerous attacks. Hannah "Barney" Barnhill bossed the back line with excellent leadership. Alexis Sinani, Peyton Schiff, Audri Payne, and Katelyn Davis got their first varsity minutes! The team will be back in action on Monday vs. Southridge at home.
