On Tuesday night BHS girls soccer opened their varsity campaign against conference powerhouse Heritage Hills. The Pioneers struggled with some growing pains, finding the Heritage hills pressure tough to handle at times. Captain Hannah Myers made several key stops, aided by Hannah Barnhill, Irie Squires, and Kayla Weiss in the back line. In the midfield Gracey Franz, Nikki Snow, and Morgan Poehllein ran their hearts out trying to put out fires and get the ball up to the attacking threats of Ava Kelley, Maya Cobb, and Ellie Tieman. Ava, Maya, and Ellie combined for some very promising counterattacks, but Heritage Hills held on to the clean sheet. The Pioneers take on Gibson Southern on Thursday; varsity plays at 5, followed by a JV half.
