The lady Pioneer soccer team bounced back from a tough week to earn their first conference win of the season on a sweltering Monday night. The team fought hard for 80 minutes to beat the South Ridge Raiders 3-2. Boonville fought hard for much of the 1st half but didn't break through until Molly Lockridge played a terrific diagonal ball into the path of Maya Cobb who scored with a clinical left footed finish. A few minutes later, Ava Kelley tracked down a ball in the box and won a dual with the raider keeper to put another one in the net for Boonville. Just before the end of the half the Raiders got one back. In the second half the pioneers lost some of their rhythm and gave Southridge an equalizer. But the pioneers would not be denied, when Maya Cobb beat her defender and drove to the goal to finish beautifully, scoring the winner. Solid performances from Mia Biggins and Gracie Franz in the midfield and a back line that held strong to get the win. Great job, ladies. The team will travel to South Spencer on Wednesday to battle the rebels.
