The Pioneer Cross Country Team had a busy fall break competeing in the PAC championship meet. Oct 10th and the Sectional Championship meet Oct 17th. The boys saved their best for last and ran their very best meets of the season over the past week. The Pioneers finished 7th as a team at the PAC meet top finishers for the Pioneers that day were Gavin Zint finishing 17th, Owen Kelley finishing 26th, Darren Westerfield finishing 39th, and Kase Topper finishing 41st. Rounding out the scoring that day was Joseph Henry running a big PR of 22:45 to finish in the top 60 for team scoring. At Sectionals the boys faced one of the toughest fields ever assembled in Southern Indiana and ran their best team average of the season. The boys ran several lifetime bests and gave it their very best effort on this day. Top finishers for the Pioneers were Gavin Zint finishing 45th in a time of 17:44.92, Owen Kelley finishing 56th in a time of 18:08.98, Darren Westerfield finishing 65th in a time of 18:37.42, and Kase Topper finishing 82nd in a time of 19:20.39. Gavin Zint did secure an individual qualifer spot to the region meet that will be held October 24th at Crawford County High School. Congratulations to all. This season was a journey with plenty of ups and downs but we brought our very best when it counted. Good luck to all of our seniors. Thank you so much for all of your hard work through the years.
