The varsity squads were just one of 26 teams to compete at the Harrison Invitational, located at the Tippecanoe Amphitheater. The varsity boys were first to toe the line, racing against nearly 200 other boys from across the state. Carter Fox (17:51) was the top finisher for the Bison, followed by Matthew McKinnis (18:39), Grady Rudolph (18:48), and Jonah Fleming (19:05), who each posted season best times. Sam Fleming (19:37) was just off his season best, with Jude Johnson (20:15) and Louie Pyke (21:14) rounding out our top 7 and also setting season bests by 15 seconds and 1:28 respectively. JV runners Bryce Floyd (22:11) gave a personal best effort of 32 seconds and Ben Caldanaro (22:21) with his season best time of 7 seconds ran the varsity race this week as well. Next up, the Lady Bison made their way through the course, fighting through over 200 girls in the windy trails of the amphitheater. Loralei Rayman (20:49) ran a season bust time by over a minute, while Maddie Peterson (21:03) and Maggie Rayman (22:23) dropped 56 seconds and 42 seconds respectively. Both Samiyah Rich (26:06) and Allie Wuethrich (28:25) also improved their season best times by 1:03 and 1:20. Benton Central was even able to fully field a JV team. Our bison boys ran well against the largest number of participants of the day. Each of these boys set season bests, led by Dietrich Payne (23:26) by almost 2 minutes, Dominic Dean (23:45) by 47 seconds, Cameron Glotzbach (24:27) by 50 seconds, Adler Payne (24:29) by 1:35, and Jackson Smith (24:40) by 2:41. The Bison Cross Country team runs its first home meet of the season this Tuesday against Seeger and Central Catholic. The races start with the boys beginning at 5 PM, followed by the girls.
