Exciting things are happening just outside our doors at Benton Central—our track renovation is well underway and ahead of schedule! Whether you’ve been following the progress or haven’t stopped by in a while, there’s a lot to be excited about. One of the major milestones completed recently was the cement stabilization process. This crucial step helps create a solid and stable base for the track surface. The recent rainfall actually played a helpful role, allowing the ground to settle and harden as intended. Crews have begun adding stone to bring the track surface up to grade, another key step before laying the final surface. In addition, drainage piping is being installed to ensure the track remains in great condition for years to come. Work is currently focused on the south end near the pole vault area, and, weather permitting, this phase should wrap up by the end of the week. Looking ahead, if the weather continues to cooperate, you can expect to see concrete forms going up next week for the pole vault and long jump areas. These visible additions will be an exciting sign of what's to come as the facility begins to take shape. We’ve included a couple of photos to give you a glimpse into the progress so far.
