Oxford, IN 4/22/25 The Benton Central Varsity Bison couldn’t keep pace with Delphi Community on Tuesday, falling 12-4 in the non-conference matchup. Delphi broke the game open in the second inning with a two-run double by Keigan Watts. They tacked on another run in the third when Keygan Elliott doubled to center field. The game remained close until the top of the seventh, when Delphi erupted for six runs on four hits. The rally included an RBI single from Josh Hartley, an RBI double by Brett Huffman, a two-run single from Hunter Wandrei, and a pair of runs scored on Benton Central errors. Delphi’s starting pitcher, Keygan Elliott earned the win, going 5.2 innings while allowing four runs on four hits, striking out eight and walking four. Spencer Flook took the loss for Benton Central, surrendering four runs (three earned) on six hits over four innings, with two strikeouts and three walks. Lucas Snyder led the Bison offensively with two RBIs from the nine-spot, while Flook helped his own cause at the plate, going 2-for-4. Delphi tallied 13 hits in total, with Keigan Watts leading the way at 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Hunter Wandrei also drove in two. Delphi’s aggressive baserunning led to seven stolen bases, Watts and Xaine Tessier swiping multiple bags each. Benton Central looks to bounce back at home on Thursday, April 24th when they host North Newton High School at Darrell Snodgrass Field.
