Varsity Baseball's Come Back Falls Short

Tues., 4/9/24 -- Oxford, IN Varsity Baseball hosted Central Catholic on Tuesday evening at Darrell Snodgrass Field and nearly pulls off a dramatic comeback and fell to the Knights 8-7 in Hoosier Conference action. The Bison were held scoreless through 4 innings, but kept battling and started their scoring in the 5th when 3 runs crossed the plate on Tyler Klemme's home run to straight away centerfield cutting the Knights lead in half 6-3. Central Catholic plated two more runs on a Brin Robbins 2 out single up the middle in the top of the 6th making the score 8-3. The Bison came storming back in the bottom of the 6th scoring 4 runs and trailing 8-7 at the end of the 6th. The Bison held the Knights scoreless in the 7th setting the stage for a dramatic 7th inning comback. The Knights had their own plans, with 2 outs and a man at first Mikey Stapleton struck out the final Bison batter to preserve an 8-7 Hoosier Conference victory. The Bison fall to 2-1 on the season and 2-1 in the Hoosier Conference standings. The Bison offense was led by Dylan Musser, Ryan Foster, Tyler Klemme, and Corbin Cooley. Adrian Torres (1-1) picks up the loss after 3 2/3 innings of work allowing 4 hits and 5 runs. Next Up: Benton Central (2-1, 2-1) will travel to Central Catholic (5-1, 2-0) on Wednesday, April 10th with the first pitch set for 6 PM.
