Benton Central Girls Soccer Advances with 3-0 Sectional Win Over Western BENTON COUNTY, Ind. — The Benton Central girls soccer team opened sectional play with a strong performance Monday night, defeating Western 3-0 to advance to the next round of the IHSAA Sectional. The Bison, a young team that has continued to grow throughout the season, battled through a physical and competitive match to earn the shutout victory. Benton Central came out with confidence and worked to establish possession early. The Bison's ability to communicate, compete for loose balls and continue pushing forward helped create opportunities throughout the match. After taking control of the game, Benton Central found the back of the net three times, while the defense and midfield continued to make it difficult for Western to generate consistent scoring opportunities. The 3-0 result was another example of the Bison's growth throughout the season. With a young roster, Benton Central has relied on players stepping into bigger roles and learning how to respond when games become challenging. "This is a young team, and I'm extremely proud of the way they battled tonight," said Benton Central head coach Dan Mirkin. "Sectional soccer is different. The pressure is higher, the games mean more, and you have to be willing to fight through those moments. Our girls stayed together, trusted each other and kept working. That's what this team is all about." The victory moves Benton Central into the next round of sectional play, keeping the Bison's season alive and giving the young squad another opportunity to compete together. For Benton Central, the win was about more than advancing. It was another step forward for a team that has continued to develop its confidence, chemistry and belief in one another. The Bison are moving on.
