BC Girls Soccer Finishes Regular Season with Big Win Over West Lafayette The Benton Central girls soccer team closed out the regular season in exciting fashion Thursday night, earning a hard-fought 1-0 victory over West Lafayette. The lone goal of the match came from Libby Widmer, who delivered a monster shot that found the back of the net and gave the Bison the lead. The goal proved to be the difference as Benton Central’s defense and midfield battled throughout the remainder of the match to preserve the shutout. The win was a fitting way to finish an impressive regular season for the Bison. Benton Central finished the regular season with a 14-2 record, a testament to the team’s consistency, work ethic, and commitment to improving together throughout the season. The final game of the regular season was also an emotional one as Benton Central honored its seniors. For the players, coaches, families and fans, it was a special opportunity to recognize the dedication and contributions of the senior class. “It was an emotional day for our seniors, and I’m incredibly proud of them and this entire team,” said Benton Central head coach Dan Mirkin. “We knew there would be a lot of emotions going into the game, but as a team, we powered through and finished strong. This group has worked extremely hard all season, and seeing them come together and compete the way they did was something special.” While the final score showed just one goal separating the teams, the victory was the result of a complete team effort. From defending and possession to communication and finishing, the Bison continued to show the growth they have made throughout the season. With the regular season now complete, Benton Central turns its attention to postseason play. Regular Season Record: 14-2 The Bison are ready for what comes next.
