Benton Central Jr-Sr High School

Benton Central's varsity cross country teams had a quick turnaround in meets this week. After a successful showing at Harrison's Champ at the Amp on Tuesday, the bison were ready to run it back at McCutcheon's Mav Stampede. The Champ at the Amp herself, Lillian Weigle, set the pace from the start of the race and steadily built a gap on the rest of the pack. She would go on to win by 1:39 in a time of 19:46. Maggie Rayman also earned a ribbon with her 6th place finish at 22:43. Our boys’ roster is young but have been lucky to compete with full varsity and junior varsity teams. A few of these younger boys were able to set personal bests again today, as they learn their paces. Our boys’ leader was once again Matthew McKinnis, followed by Sam Fleming. Both boys had top 20, ribbon-placing times at 19:01 and 19:19 respectively. Our varsity boys were rounded out by Louie Pyke, Landon Dennis, Gideon Fisher, Jacob Pitstick, and Cameron Glotzbach. These boys placed 4th overall as a team, beating Central Catholic by 2 points. Come out to support our runners as they make their return to the Tippecanoe Amphitheater for the Harrison Invite.
