Volleyball Varsity vs Tri-County High School Win The Lady Bison volleyball teams were in action Monday night in the Arena, and came away with pair of victories, against the Tri-County Lady Cavaliers. The JV team started the evening winning their match in straight sets 25-14 and 25-12. The Lady Bison utilized a well-balanced attack featuring 18 total kills from 7 different players, 13 aces, and a suffocating defense registering 17 digs to lead virtually wire-to-wire in the event. The team also registered 18 assists from 3 different players. In the Varsity match, BC followed a similar script winning in straight sets by scores of 25-9, 25-13, and 25-18. In a slow start to set 1, the score was just 6-5 before Claire Whaley stepped to the service line. Behind Whaley’s precise serving and excellent team ball control the Lady Bison went on an 11-0 run to open a 17-5 advantage. The Lady Cavaliers were unable to respond effectively, leading to the set ending 25-9. Set 2 saw a similar slow start as the Lady Bison were tied at 6-6 with McKenna Yadon setting up at the service line. Yadon’s strong serving allowed BC to go on a 12-point run pushing the lead to 18-6 before the Lady Cavaliers could sideout. Again, the lead was insurmountable, and the Lady Bison were able to close the set 25-13. The Third set was a much tighter affair as the Varsity struggled to open any considerable leads until late in the set. The lead was a scant 1 point with the teams trading sideouts and short runs until the score reached 18-17. The Lady Bison put together a quick final push of 6 points to extend the lead to 24-17, and effectively end the set, with the final score of 25-18. Statistically the Varsity accumulated a combined 35 kills from the group of Ella Miller, Rhyan Deno, Kate Cox, McKenna Yadon, Khloe Goodman, Maggie Widmer and Kendall Gephart, with 35 assists from the setting trio of Maddie Minniear, Claire Whaley, and Molly Bramer. Liberos Liv Hardebeck and Kendall Segal helped lead the defensive team effort which notched 37 digs, and 3 blocks. Additionally, in the serve-serve receive battle, BC logged 8 aces to only 3 serve reception errors.
