Benton Central Jr-Sr High School

Harrison High School played host to one of the areas largest cross country meets of the year Saturday. The Harrison Invitational featured 20 teams from across the state, with some of the best competition the Bison will face all season. The measure of success changes with our circumstances. Early morning races brought little relief from the heat, and pop up showers were not much help for the girls’ race. Benton Central’s freshman Lillian Weigle fought the elements and put herself on the map with other top girls from the state to take 10th place overall in a time of 19:25. Sophomore Maggie Rayman also had a successful run to place top 50 of 248 girls. The boys continued the trend toward personal achievement, led by senior captain Matthew McKinnis, who set a personal best time to hit his first sub 18 minute time at 17:59. Six of our boys managed to set personal bests of up to 3 minutes. Another short turnaround for the bison harriers as they look to build on this success when they travel to Hanging Rock Christian Camp to face the Seeger Patriots and Central Catholic Knights on Tuesday at 5:30 PM.
