For Immediate Release Wednesday, May 27th The Benton Central Girls Track & Field team competed at the IHSAA Regional hosted by Lafayette Jefferson High School on Tuesday, May 26, with several Lady Bison athletes turning in strong performances against some of the top competition in the state. The highlight of the evening came in the discus event, where Sophia Zarate delivered a standout performance to qualify for the IHSAA State Track & Field Championships. Zarate placed 5th overall with a state-qualifying throw of 138’ 2”, earning her spot at the state finals. Sophia will compete at the IHSAA State Meet on Friday, June 5 at 3:00 PM at the North Central High School Track & Field Complex in Indianapolis. Additional Benton Central regional results included: Keagan Strickland — 15th Place, High Jump Harlo Holder — 12th Place, 3200 Meter Run Maddie Peterson — 11th Place, 200 Meter Dash 4x800 Meter Relay Team (Harlo Holder, Maddie Peterson, Maggie Rayman, and Loralei Rayman) — 8th Place Congratulations to all of the Lady Bison regional qualifiers on an outstanding season, and best of luck to Sophia Zarate as she represents Benton Central at the IHSAA State Finals!
