For Immediate Release Milford, Illinois - 4/20/2026 What a comeback! Facing a five-run deficit and the momentum squarely on Milford’s side, the Lady Bison refused to fold—battling all the way back to earn a dramatic 7-6 extra-inning victory on Monday. Benton Central struck first in the opening inning when Sydney Groves drove in a run with a groundout, but Milford answered in the third, using a double and a Bison miscue to reclaim the lead. The game turned sharply in the fourth inning when Milford’s Lucht launched a grand slam to right field, pushing the Lady Cats ahead and putting Benton Central in a deep hole. But the Lady Bison kept chipping away. After staying within striking distance, Benton Central came through in the sixth inning to even the score at 6-6. Adalynn Keller delivered in a key situation with a fielder’s choice, and Chloe Linder followed with a sacrifice fly to complete the rally and bring the game back to level. From there, the momentum shifted. Sydney Groves was dominant in relief, shutting down Milford over the final three innings. She was untouchable in the circle, allowing no hits while striking out seven and keeping the Bearcats off balance when it mattered most. The breakthrough came in the top of the eighth. With the game still tied, Benton Central capitalized on a Milford error, allowing the go-ahead run to cross the plate—its first lead since the opening inning. Adalynn Keller set the tone offensively from the leadoff spot, collecting two hits in five at-bats. Linder, Keller, and Madison Minniear each drove in a run as the Lady Bison pieced together timely contributions throughout the lineup. After weathering Milford’s early surge, Benton Central’s resilience and late-game execution proved to be the difference in a hard-fought road win. With the win the the Lady Bison improve to 5-2 and will look to carry that momentum into Thursday as they return home to face Seeger for a 5 pm start at Kenny Greenberg Field.
