Bison Shut Out South Newton Behind Dominant Pitching Performance, 9-0

The Benton Central Varsity Baseball team delivered a complete performance on Monday evening, defeating South Newton 9-0 behind a dominant showing on the mound and disciplined at-bats. Three Bison pitchers combined for the shutout, as Kamron Rider, Parker Sexton, and Nolan Winkler held South Newton to just one hit on the night. Winkler closed out the game, recording the final out to secure the victory. Rider earned the win with an outstanding start, tossing five innings while allowing just one hit and no runs. He struck out 11 batters and issued three walks, setting the tone early for the Bison. Offensively, Benton Central was led by Grant Weise, who drove in five runs while going 2-for-4 at the plate. The Bison got on the scoreboard in the second inning when Parker Sexton delivered an RBI single to give Benton Central the early advantage 1-0. The Bison offense remained patient throughout the game, drawing seven total walks. Carter Fox and Spencer Flook each reached base twice via walks, helping keep pressure on South Newton pitching. Defensively, Benton Central was flawless, committing no errors on the night. Grant Weise led the team with 13 chances behind the plate, anchoring a strong defensive effort. Benton Central will be back in action on Tuesday, April 7th as they travel to Delphi Community HS for a 5:30 first pitch.
