Benton Central Athletics Announces New IHSAA Sectional Alignments for 2026–27 & 2027–28

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 31, 2026 Benton Central Athletics Announces New IHSAA Sectional Alignments for 2026–27 & 2027–28 Benton Central Athletics is excited to announce the newly approved sectional alignments from the Indiana High School Athletic Association for the 2026–27 and 2027–28 school years. These alignments, approved by the IHSAA Executive Committee, will shape postseason competition across multiple sports over the next two years. The new sectional groupings reflect a continued effort by the IHSAA to promote competitive balance while maintaining geographic considerations for member schools. Football Sectional 25 Benton Central will compete in a highly competitive eight-team sectional featuring: Andrean, Calumet, Griffith, Hammond Bishop Noll, Illiana Christian, River Forest, and Twin Lakes. Volleyball Sectional 37 The Bison will face a loaded and highly competitive field that includes: Clinton Prairie, Delphi Community, Faith Christian, Rensselaer Central, Seeger, and Western Boone. This sectional is especially noteworthy at the state level, featuring the 2024 Class 2A State Champion (Western Boone), the 2025 Class 2A State Runner-Up (Benton Central), and the back-to-back (2024 & 2025) Class 1A State Runner-Up (Faith Christian), making it one of the most competitive volleyball sectionals in the state. Boys Soccer Sectional 21 Benton Central joins a six-team field consisting of: Frankfort, Tipton, Twin Lakes, West Lafayette, and Western. Girls Soccer Sectional 21 The Lady Bison will compete against: Frankfort, Twin Lakes, West Lafayette, and Western. Girls Basketball Sectional 37 A strong six-team sectional will include: Clinton Prairie, Delphi Community, Rensselaer Central, Seeger, and Western Boone. Boys Basketball Sectional 37 The Bison boys will also compete in a six-team field featuring: Clinton Prairie, Delphi Community, Rensselaer Central, Seeger, and Western Boone. “These new alignments bring a great mix of familiar conference opponents and elite-level competition,” said Benton Central Athletic Director Jared Hall. “Our volleyball sectional, in particular, highlights the strength of programs in our area and will provide an exciting postseason environment for our athletes and community.” Host sites for each sectional tournament will be determined later this spring by athletic administrators within each respective sectional. Benton Central will share additional updates, including host sites and postseason information, as they become available.
